Ruth Isabel Weber

92 years old. Ruth Isabel Weber passed away peacefully at her residence at the Pacific Inn in Torrance early Friday morning, July 12, 2013. Ruth was born in Gardena (Moneta) to Louis and Carrie Wick Weber on January 27, 1921. She was the fourth of five sisters known as the "Weber Girls". The family moved to Santa Paula, then to Santa Monica where Ruth graduated from Santa Monica High School in 1938. She later completed stenographic courses at MacKay College in Los Angeles. Ruth attended Figueroa Christian Church in Los Angeles where she met her future husband Arlyn Victor Weber at a dance. Ruth Weber married Arlyn Weber at Figueroa Christian Church on December 26, 1941. Having married a Weber, Ruth delighted in introducing herself as "Ruth Weber Weber". While Arlyn served overseas in the Navy during WWII, Ruth worked at Consolidated Aircraft in San Diego. Ruth and Arlyn settled in Los Angeles after the War. Arlyn resumed his career with the Los Angeles City Fire Department while Ruth stayed at home raising two sons. Ruth and Arlyn moved to Torrance (Hollywood Riviera) in 1962 to a house on Paseo de las Tortugas with a splendid view of the Los Angeles basin. She loved the view from their new house. They attended Del Amo Christian Church in Torrance. Ruth enjoyed working at the Torrance Public Library Processing Department for several years. Ruth and Arlyn celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1991 at the Torrance Holiday Inn. Arlyn passed away in 1998. In 2010, Ruth moved to Pacific Inn on Torrance Blvd where she enjoyed the company of old and new friends. Ruth enjoyed visiting with friends, traveling, reading, entertaining and writing. She was an avid letter writer, and enjoyed reading the bible. Ruth is survived by sons Gary (Idyllwild) and Brian (Long Beach), their wives (Susie and Cindy, respectively), four grandchildren, and one great granddaughter. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 26 at 1:00pm at Torrance First Baptist Church, 2118 W. Carson (310.328.1223).
