Sheila M. Ferrier 3/16/1932 - 3/25/2015

Sheila Ferrier, loving and devoted wife, mother, proud grandmother, great-grandmother and loyal friend passed away at home in the early morning hours on March 25, peacefully in her sleep. Born in Huron, South Dakota, Sheila grew up in the Black Hills, Des Moines, Iowa, Melbourne, Florida and San Francisco, California before moving to San Pedro in 1942. Sheila attended local elementary schools, Dana Junior High and San Pedro High School, where she meet the love of her life, George in 1946. She was an accomplished actress and singer and performed in many musicals sponsored by the San Pedro Junior Women's Club, Puerto de Oro Women's Club and Shoreline Women's Club. More than anything else Sheila enjoyed time with her family. George and Sheila enjoyed traveling, particularly cruising, at every opportunity. Hawaii was an annual destination. To her family she was many things; knitter, nurse, counselor, confidant, music lover, card player and world traveler and above all fierce protector of those she loved. She loved to laugh, she found joy in the little things and her special touch and attention to detail is what made her house a home. Sheila had an endless fount of forgiveness and a huge capacity to love, she made this world a better place and she will be dearly missed. Sheila was preceded in death by her loving Husband of 61 years George, her parents, Maj. Herbert M. Cass and Ethyl Cass, brother Herb Cass, sister Diana (Cass) Fitzgerald and youngest Son, Drew Ferrier AM6 USCG. She is survived by her son Greg (Pamela) and her grandchildren Geoffrey (Anjeanette), Brandon, Derek, Christina, Travis and great-grandchildren Drew and Logan. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Herb Cass, Barry Cass, Elizabeth Linkletter and Mary Rivera. A celebration of Sheila's life is planned for April 4, 2015 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 South Western Avenue | Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275.
