Shirley Maxine (Enright) Wilson Obituary
Shirley Maxine
(Enright) Wilson

November 3, 1931 - March 11, 2014

Beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor, Shirley went to heaven on March 11, 2014. She was 82 years young. Shirley moved to California from Minnesota in 1940 at the age of 9. She lived in Crescent City where her family owned the Hurry Back Café, and she worked at the restaurant after school and on weekends. After graduating from high school, she moved to Los Angeles and shortly after worked as a waitress for Paramount Studios. While working at the Studios, she met and married the love of her life, Wells Wilson. In 1968 they adopted their beloved daughter, Dawn. Shirley was a devoted mother, supporting Dawn in her many activities ranging from ice skating to horseback riding to scouting to piano recitals. Shirley was also an avid and accomplished water skier, having won many long distance races. Shirley and Wells were very involved in boat and car clubs, in addition to snow skiing and dirt bike riding. In her younger years, Shirley could often be found alongside Wells in the garage polishing their collectible cars. Shirley worked at Del Conte's restaurant for over 25 years where she made many life-long friends. She often spoke fondly of her Del Conte's days. Shirley, Wells and Dawn lived on Dapplegray Lane in Rolling Hills Estates for 45 years. In her later years, Shirley loved to garden and work outside in her beautiful yard. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She had an exceptional God-given gift of gab; she could speak to anyone at any time, about anything. Rest in heaven dear one. A memorial service celebrating Shirley's life will be held on Saturday, March 15, 1:30 p.m. at Rolling Hills Covenant Church, North Campus, 2221 Palos Verdes Drive North, Rolling Hills Estates, with a reception immediately following at Shirley's home, 69 Dapplegray Lane, Rolling Hills Estates. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to City of Hope, Cancer Research, 1500 East Duarte Road, Duarte, CA 91010. The family extends its gratitude to Trinity Hospice, and special thanks to Priscila and Cathy. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
