Shizu Smith Obituary
Smith, Shizu (92)

Loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Shizu Yamamoto Smith, passed away peacefully at home with her family around her on Saturday, August 8th, 2015. Shizu served our country by being a devoted military wife to our father, CMSgt Bernard T. Smith, United States Air Force. She was born in Tokyo, Japan where she met the love of her life and together they were joined in marriage. She was one of the first war brides to come to the United States after WWII. Everyone who met her always commented on her beautiful smile. She devoted her life entirely to her family always gently encouraging us to be the best we can be. Her love was unconditional. She was a long time resident of Harbor City, CA for over 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard T. Smith; her in-laws, Opal, George and Earl Smith, her parents; her son-in-law, Russell Sanders, her daughter-in-law, LaNette Smith; her brother-in-laws, Max and Tomogiro. She is survived by her sister, Teruko; son, Miles; her daughter, Linda; her daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Greg; grandchildren: Tammy, Rick, Megan, Courtney, and Spencer; great grandson, Dakoda; along with Pat and Doris, Jim and Sherry, Gary, Darlene and Wayne, Mike and Sheila; and many nieces and nephews. Her family and friends are blessed to have shared in her life and are better people because of her quiet and unresolved courage and strength. She will be missed, but we know she lives in our hearts forever and that she will always look out for us. Vigil service will take place at Green Hills Memorial Park, Rancho Palos Verdes, on Thursday, August 20th at 6pm (viewing between 3 and 6pm). Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 21st at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Lomita, at 10am followed by internment at Green Hills Memorial Park (310- 831-0311). Reception immediately following at Green Hills. Please sign the guestbook at dailybreeze.com
