Slobodan Androsevic Obituary
Slobodan "Danny" Androsevic

Slobodan "Danny" Androsevic's journey began July 31, 1929 in Banja Luka, Bosnia. He passed away peacefully when his kind and generous heart stopped beating at 5:15am, Wed, May 27th, 2015. His life was centered on two ideals – one was his Bosnian-Croatian Catholic faith; and the other was to provide his family with freedom and opportunity. As a young man growing up in a war-torn communist country, these dreams were just dreams, and so Danny set his sights on the land of opportunity and the home of the free; America. His almost 86 year long life was filled with many travels and adventures with the ultimate goal of achieving his dreams. After studying preventative medicine and safety engineering in Zagreb, he ultimately graduated in Electrical Engineering. In Zagreb, he met the love of his life, Bozica (Kristina) Kropek in 1957. Like Danny, Kristina had the same aspirations, and shared his dreams and visions. They married in January, 1958 and after their only child, daughter Snjezana (Marie) was born in November of 1959, they embarked on a life-long adventure of travel. Slowly working their way to the free West, they moved first to Germany, where Danny worked as an Engineer for the City of Stuttgart. In Germany, life was good for the Androsevic family, yet, it was not what Danny and Kristina had dreamed of, it was not America. So, together with the only remaining relative in their small family, Danny's mother Jelena, they immigrated to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. There Danny worked for the Acres Company on various large Canadian and International projects, such as the hydro-electric dam in Thailand. In 1974, after years of waiting and praying, the family finally immigrated to sunny Los Angeles, the City of dreams and Our Lady of the Angels. Always entrepreneurially minded, Danny and the family went into, and ultimately succeeded in, Commercial Real Estate and Management. While there were many hardships along the road in their business, Danny found solace in his supportive family, his friends, and his devotion to his faith and his dedication to these three never wavered. His devotion to freedom is evident in his involvement in numerous conservative causes, ultimately earning him the Republican Senatorial Medal of Freedom, and many accolades for humanitarian causes for his beloved homeland of Croatia. Danny is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Bozica (Kristina); only daughter Snjezana (Marie) Rees; son in law Daniel Rees; and grandson's Alexander Rees (engaged to Miss Mary Migliorini) and Anthony (Tony) Rees who just graduated in Entrepreneurship from LMU. Visitation will be held on Thursday night, June 4th from 6-8pm, with the Rosary at 7pm at Green Hills Memorial Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes. Funeral Mass will be held the following day, Friday June 5th at 10:30am at Mary Star of the Sea Church in San Pedro, with interment directly afterwards at Green Hills Memorial Park, and luncheon following thereafter. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in honor of Danny's memory to St. Anthony's Croatian Church, 712 N. Grand Ave, Los Angeles 90012.
