Stan Skorpanich

October 30, 1932-December 20, 2016

Graveside services will be held on 10:30 AM on March 11 at Green Hills. Stan was born on Olib, an island along the Dalmatian coast in Croatia, to Marija and Roko Skorpanich. The family endured many hardships while separated from Roko during WWII. They were finally reunited in 1950 upon immigrating to California. Stan served admirably in the US Army and married Therese Lepurin while stationed at Ford Ord. Afterwards they returned to San Pedro where they raised their growing family and in 1960 opened Stan's Meats and Deli, which had a loyal customer base from throughout the South Bay and beyond. He began investing in real estate and eventually sold the market to manage his properties full time. Stan was a devoted son and brother. Proud to be an Olibanji, an American, a veteran, and a father of four, his most treasured title was 'Proud Dida' to his granddaughter Aubrey Pinkus and grandson Daniel Pinkus. He is survived by his sisters, Karmela Fureigh and Teresa Barulich; his brother, Tom and his wife, Anne; his children, James Skorpanich, Mary Anne Skorpanich and her husband, Greg Lepore, Steve Skorpanich and his wife, Cookie, and Stephanie Pinkus and her husband, Steve Pinkus; two grandchildren; five nieces and two nephews: Donna Hessinger (husband, Paul), Linda Fureigh, Lisa Fureigh, Kirk Skorpanich (wife, Anastasia), Tammie Pitcairn (husband, Justin), Debbie Burke, Michael Barulich; and many grand nieces and nephews.
