Theodore Goll Obituary
Theodore Raymond Goll

Theodore Raymond Goll, 89, passed peacefully at his home in Long Beach on June 20, 2015 following a brief illness. He was born October 26, 1925 in Tuttle, North Dakota, the youngest of nine children. Ted graduated from Tuttle High School in 1943. On the day he turned 18, Ted enlisted in the US Navy and served his country during WWII. He was a seaman on LSTs in the Pacific theater, seeing action around New Guinea and the Philippines. Honorably discharged in the fall of 1946, Ted returned to the family farm and worked briefly erecting Quonset huts. Ted then used his Veteran's benefits to attend college in Jamestown, N.D., graduating in 1950 with a degree in Education. While attending college, Ted met and fell in love with Imogene Geving. They were married in 1953 and spent the next forty-seven years together. Ted and Imogene moved to Long Beach where both taught school. Ted taught math and typing for thirty-one years in the Long Beach Unified School District before retiring in 1990. Imogene passed away in 2001. For the last thirteen years, Ted enjoyed sharing his life with Maria & Caroline Jol in Long Beach. He was a member of the Veterans Chapel in Long Beach. He liked traveling, dancing, attending opera performances, solving math puzzles, and playing golf. In high school, Ted was an outstanding basketball player. He and his brother, Adam were an almost unbeatable pair on a winning team. Ted had an inquisitive and inventive mind. He particularly enjoyed giving friends and family gifts that he made from recycled or repurposed materials--"Something from Nothing" is what he called it! He had a passion for completing Sudoku puzzles, which he did until several weeks before his death. Ted is survived by a sister, Ida Hamilton, in Seattle Washington, and many nieces and nephews. There will be a committal at Riverside National Cemetery on July 17, 2015. Please sign the guest book at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
