Tony J. Mata Obituary
Tony J. Mata

Born January 23, 1938 to Jesus and Agapita Mata, Tony Jesus Mata joined his parents in Heaven on October 31, 2011. He died peacefully at home in Torrance, California. Tony, born in Bellflower, California was a lifelong resident of Torrance. Tony worked for the city of Torrance Parks Department and finished his career with the water department. Tony was a family man who was loved by his children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, cousins and many nieces and nephews. His generosity towards his family not only with his possessions but with his time will never be forgotten. His love for capturing special moments on film and video is something we will forever treasure. Fishing off the Redondo Pier, rodeos, Armed Forces Day parades, camping trips up north, teaching the kids how ride motorcycles and shoot BB guns are moments many of us were lucky to have shared with him. His love for animals is something he shared with us up until the end. We will miss seeing him in what became his signature look of blue jeans, white tee shirts cowboy boots and hats. Tony is survived by his sons, Errol Christopher Mata and Bill Schwartz; daughter, Denise Christine Orozco; brothers, Ernest, Santana and Joe Mata; sisters, Jenny Valencia, Martina Villalva, Eleanore Felix, Mary Lou Rosas, Teresa Ruiz and Margaret Mora. He was preceded in death by parents, Jesus and Agapita Mata; brother, Richard and sister, Lupe Ramirez. A celebration Mass is taking place at St. Margaret Mary Church in Lomita, CA on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
