Verda M. Schultz Obituary
Verda M. Schultz

April 25, 1920 - September 9, 2016

Verda was born in Blythe, California to Clyde and Hilda Mackey. Shortly after her birth her family moved to Laguna where Verda spent her childhood. When she was about 14 years old the family grew with the addition of her sister Barbara Lee. Verda attended Occidental College in the LA area graduating with a degree in Education. During a summer spent working in a doctor's office in her hometown of Laguna, she met her future husband, Ernest Schultz, a medical student who was visiting his doctor brother.
Verda and Ernie were married on December 19, 1942 in Laguna. While Ernie was in the Navy during WWII, they lived in the Bay Area. Following the war they returned to the LA area where Ernie pursued his medical career and where they began their family life. They had three daughters, Cynthia Lee, Donna Louise, and Victoria Lynn. They had homes in Glendale, Monrovia and Arcadia where Verda was a dedicated mother, housewife, and entertainer. Verda and her husband enjoyed extensive world travels. When the children left home, Verda started an antique business. She and her husband had fun searching and purchasing antiques together, selling them at antique shows.
In 1988 Verda and Ernie retired to Rancho Palos Verdes where they lived in a lovely home next door to daughter Donna and her family. Ernie passed away in 1999. In 2010 following her 90th birthday she moved to Minden, Nevada to live with daughter Vicki and her family.
Verda loved spending time with her grandchildren. Most important to her was a lifelong dedication to her Christian faith.
Verda was predeceased by husband, Ernie; and her sister, Lee. She is survived by daughters, Cynthia Bruce (Charles), Donna Papadakis (John), and Victoria Shephard (Mike); 9 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A service celebrating her life was held on Saturday, September 17th in Minden. For those who wish, donations can be made in her name to Rolling Hills Covenant Church, Rolling Hills Estates, California. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
