Virginia Allen Beesley died peacefully in Rancho Palos Verdes where she lived for the last 11 years. Born in Newburgh, Indiana to Anna Frank Allen and James Lee Allen, Virginia had one sister, Margaret, who preceded her in death. She attended Indiana University and graduated from University of Evansville with a teaching degree. Virginia was a teacher in Warrick and Vanderburgh Counties, Indiana and also taught at the Evansville Day School and the Sacred Heart School in Terre Haute over the course of her career. Virginia was married to Kendrick A Beesley in 1940 until his death in 1994. Virginia moved to California in 2000 and resided at the Canterbury Retirement Home where she was an avid bridge player and was known for bringing patriotism to her community. She was a member of several organizations, including Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, Fort Harrison Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution for 50 years and Order of the Eastern Star in Newburgh. Virginia also was a congregant of St. Peter's By The Sea Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her daughter, Kendra A. Diamond and son-in-law, Dr. Arthur Diamond of Rancho Palos Verdes; grandchildren, Rachelle Diamond, Jeffrey Diamond and wife, Johanna Vater and great-grandson, Van Diamond, all of San Francisco. Nephew, C. Allen Long, preceded her in death. Niece, Ruth Ann Long Ulrich, resides in Evansville. Entombment will be at Alexander Memorial Mausoleum in Evansville.
