1926 - 2011 Obituary Condolences
Born June 12, 1926 in Los Angeles to Anna and Earl Brooks, Virginia was the widow of William A. Kohl who lived until March 27, 1994. Bill served 20 years in the U.S. Army, with Virginia by his side in 2 overseas tours of Europe. The Kohl's moved to San Pedro in 1959 to Fort MacArthur with their daughter, Virginia Anne. Virginia was active in the Garden Club and Point Vicente Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. She was an award winning floral designer and an accomplished genealogist who assisted more than 40 members in joining NSDAR. In recent years she suffered from a rare blood disease which progressed to leukemia. After a valiant struggle, Virginia passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 1, 2011. Virginia is survived by her daughter, Virginia Ann. McNerney's Mortuary, 570 West 5th St., San Pedro 90731 is holding a viewing Monday and Tuesday, March 7 and 8 from 4PM to 8PM. A funeral service will be conducted at McNerney's on Wednesday, March 9 at 1:00 PM. Private burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Burbank on Thursday, March 10, 2011. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Point Vicente Chapter, NSDAR or the National Leukemia Society.
