Virginia F. Lippman Obituary
Virginia was born in Los Angeles in 1921, the much-beloved only child of older parents, Roswell and Virgie. She died of pneumonia on March 11, 2011. Virginia attended high school at St. Mary's Academy '39. During World War II, Virginia served in the WAVES (Women Accepted into Voluntary Emergency Service). She married a handsome young engineer, Emile Lippman, in 1944. Together until Emile's passing in 2008, they lovingly raised 7 children in RHE. Virginia was a lifetime lover of books, earning an A.A. degree while her children were teenagers, later working at the Peninsula library. She was also a founding member of St. John Fisher Parish. We are so grateful for the loving care she was given by the caregivers who cared for her in her home, the staff at Sage House in San Pedro, and the wonderful people from Trinity Care Hospice. Virginia is survived by her 7 children, Gilbert (Pat) of Reno, NV, Joan (Xavier) Mercado of Fullerton, Dorothy (Ched) Salovesh of Orange, Pat (Randy) Reams of Chino Hills, Bill (Diane) of Shawnee, OK, Teresa (Paul) Woods of Redondo Beach, and Ron (Lisa) of Catasauqua, PA; 27 grandchildren; and 26+ great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held from 5-8pm on Friday, March 18, at Green Hills Memorial Park in RPV. Funeral Mass at 11am on Saturday, March 19 at St. John Fisher, with a reception following in the parish hall. As an alternative to flowers, please consider donating to one of the above-mentioned organizations.
