In Loving Memory

Wayne Dennis Peters

February 7, 1943 - December 26, 2014

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. Died in his El Segundo, CA home after an accidental fall. He was 71 years old. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Stephen and Margaret Peters. He was a U.S. Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He was a 38 year resident of El Segundo where he volunteered years of service to helping the homeless, elderly and children. As a long time soccer coach, including coaching at El Segundo High School, he provided endless hours influencing young girls to achieve success and believe in themselves.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Darleen; daughter, Heather; son-in-law, Jesse and his granddaughters, Kaylee and Kaiya. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a proud father, fun grandpa and loving husband. Wayne, never met a stranger that didn't become a friend and he never lost his sense of playfulness. He enjoyed traveling the world, going on adventures with his granddaughters and seeing as many sunrises and sunsets as he could. His family and friends will always remember his endearing smile, hilarious stories, generous nature and his kindness to others.

To honor Wayne, a celebration of life service is being held for his closest family and friends. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to The Make a Wish Foundation of the greater Los Angeles chapter in his name at la.wish.org. The family wishes to extend their gratitude for all the numerous calls, cards, flowers and meals. Please sign the guest book at www.dailybreeze.com/obits. Wayne Peters will truly be missed!
