Dr. William K. Payne II, of Rancho Palos Verdes passed on June 4, 2014. Dr. Payne was born in Montgomery, Alabama in 1928. He was raised in Savannah, Georgia. He attended boarding school in North Carolina. After graduating from boarding school at 16 he attended college and medical school at Howard University in Washington D.C. After completing his residency in general surgery and pediatrics he served in the U.S. Navy for 7 years as an Officer in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps. He served on the USS Yorktown. Upon completion of his service, he married Kathleen Payne. The couple had two sons who were raised in Rancho Palos Verdes. Dr. Payne opened a private medical practice serving the South Bay and Greater Los Angeles area. Dr. Payne was a board certified pediatrician for 50 years before retiring. Dr. Payne was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Kathleen Payne. He is survived by his sons William K. Payne II, M.D. and Los Angeles Attorney Michael Payne; daughters Tina Payne and Yvette Payne; sister Roselyn Payne Epps. M.D., brother-in- law Charles H. Epps M.D., grand children William, Chris, Alexa and Lauryn, nieces, nephews , cousins, and friends.
