William Kenneth (Ken) Parcell, 77, formerly of Fredericksburg and Fairview Beach, VA, died May 4, 2013 in Torrance, CA where he resided for more than 47 years. Ken was born and raised in Fredericksburg, and was the son of the late Raymond and Irene Parcell. He graduated from James Monroe High School, Class of 1953, and Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Class of 1958, with a degree in business administration, where upon he received his commission as an officer in the US Army. After his tour of duty he returned to Fredericksburg to work for the "Sylvania Plant" -American Viscose Corporation. He was at the time a member of the Fredericksburg Masonic Lodge #4. In 1966 Ken joined his brother Ray (Jack) in California and began a 23-year career in program and business management and security for Hughes Aircraft Company/Radar Systems Group in El Segundo, CA. After retirement Ken turned his attention to the day to day operations and management of the apartment building he owned on the Esplanade in Redondo, Beach CA, and enjoyed extensive domestic and international travel with his wife, family and friends. Ken was an active participant in and philanthropist for many charitable and political organizations throughout Southern California, including: Angel Flight West, an organization that arranges free non-emergency air travel for children and adults with serious medical conditions, for which his brother Ray had volunteered as a pilot; Republican Party Candidate fundraising and the Young Republicans Organization for which he was honored by induction 3 times on the Donor Wall at the Reagan Ranch, Santa Barbara, CA. He was a member of the Torrance El Toga Shrine Club. Ken is survived by his wife, Delores, of Torrance, CA and stepdaughter, Kimberly Box, of Arizona; cousins William Kelley, Robert Kelley, of Stafford, VA; Patricia Wallace and Joyce Sexton of Richmond, VA; Tom Parcell of Calabash, NC; Karen Parcell Kehoe of Bradenton, FL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents in 1974 and his brother Ray in 2006.
