William "Bill" Lafferty Obituary
William "Bill" Lafferty

William "Bill" Lafferty passed away peacefully at home August 2, 2016. Born October 1, 1926 in Carnegie PA, Bill came to California as a young boy and lived in the South Bay for most of his 89 years. The oldest of 7 children, he worked hard to help support his family. He continued this legacy with a lifetime of generously helping others in need, always with a big smile.
Bill was a brilliant and ingenious man with an innate understanding of the physical world and how things worked; skills he used as a woodworker, craftsman, and go-to fix-it guy. His unwavering sense of fairness and quality served him well in his distinguished 40 year career in the aerospace industry working in Quality Assurance for Longren, Aeronca, and Northrop Aircraft companies, and in his personal life mentoring friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Muriel; his brother, Joe; and sister, Louise.
Surviving Bill are his son, Mike (Lisa); daughters, Sandy (Alan) and Marsha (Lee); brother, John; and sisters, Mary, Grace, and Jane. He also leaves 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in Bill's name to Torrance Memorial Hospice, 23326 Hawthorn Blvd., Suite 100B, Torrance, CA 90505. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
