Obituary Condolences

William M. Laurens

Bill passed away on August 5, 2012 at his home in Torrance, CA, where he had lived since 1954. He was born September 17, 1922 in Ohio. He was a veteran of WWII where he fought alongside his fellow Army soldiers in Europe. He was married April 8, 1950 to his beautiful bride Ruth in the Chicago, IL area. In 1953 the car was packed up, and with his wife and two daughters, they headed west to join his brother Fred in Southern CA. With the thought of working in the television industry, he instead found employment with United Airlines. He retired from United after 35 years as an R&E mechanic. He had a passion for golf, sometimes to the frustration of his wife, and continued to play well into his 88th year. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years. He was devoted to his family and was unbelievable in the loving care he gave his wife in her battle with cancer and then a broken hip. He missed her dearly as do we all. And now we miss him too as we say goodbye in our thoughts and prayers. He is survived by his three children, Diana, Dawn and Daniel, his four grandchildren, Christopher, Sarah, Chase and Michelle and three great-grandchildren, Allison, Samantha and Jeffrey. His remains will be placed alongside his wife's at Riverside National Cemetery. A service is being held at 10:00am on Monday, August 13 at Halverson, Stone & Myers Mortuary, 1223 Cravens Ave. Torrance, CA. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
