Margaret E. Hammer

PIQUA — Margaret E. Hammer, 88, of Piqua, more recently of Punta Gorda, Fla., died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Brookdale Punta Gorda. She was born April 30, 1928, in Dundee, N.Y., to the late Harold L. and Marian E. (Smith) Wilcox. She married Raymond L. Hammer on Jan. 12, 1952, in Penn Yan, N.Y., and he preceded her in death March 7, 2011.

Survivors include a son, Peter J. (Diane) Hammer of Piqua; four daughters, Patricia A. (Gregory) Poff of Calabash, N.C., Janet E. (Mark) Mullen of Piqua, Joan E. (Larry) Sandles of Punta Gorda, Fla., Rachel L. (David) Simko of Strongsville, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Joanne Ackroyd, Anita Lund; and a brother, Dale Wilcox.

Mrs. Hammer worked primarily as an office manager at Hammer Graphics for many years. She was an active member of St. Boniface Catholic Church as well as Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed golfing with friends and family. She was a joy and pleasure to everyone she met.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at St. Boniface Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Thomas L. Bolte as the Celebrant. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be conducted at 5 p.m.
