Anna G. Brooks-Barnes (1929 - 2018)

PIQUA — Anna G. Brooks-Barnes, of Troy, formerly of Englewood, passed away at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, at StoryPoint Assisted Living. She was born Aug. 1, 1929, in Coxton, Kentucky, to the late Josef and Katherine (Wojeck) Gap. She married William "Bill" Paul Brooks July 16, 1951; he preceded her in death Jan. 25, 1982. She then married Donald Barnes Aug. 3, 1991, and he survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Karen (Steve) Magoteaux of Piqua, Lisa (Jeff) Weeks of Pleasant Hill; a step-daughter, Kim Anderson of Vandalia; a step-son, Kevin Barnes of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren, Ken (Amy) Magoteaux of Sidney, Bryan (Kate) Magoteaux of Beavercreek, Kyle (Sarah Jane) Magoteaux of Piqua, William "Willie" Monbeck of Piqua, Whitney Monbeck of Piqua; a step-grandson, Alex of Dayton; three step-granddaughters, Alicia of Irvine, California, Tori and Jessie of Pleasant Hill; and a sister, Mary Keen of Oakridge, Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Tony, John and Joe Gap.

Anna was a 1947 graduate of Appalachia High School in Virginia and served as the Personnel Director for the Sears store at the Salem Mall for over 25 years. She was a member of the Salem Church of the Brethren.

A service to honor her life will begin at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Hospice Chaplain Rick Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery, Brookville. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
