Jane Theresa Kraatz, devoted wife, mother, and friend, died peacefully of natural causes on August 4, 2018, three months after her 97 th birthday. She joins her beloved husband, Harold, and daughter, Joan, who departed this life in 2004. Jane is lovingly remembered for her profound devotion to her family, to the Catholic faith, and to children with disabilities. Jane was born May 5, 1921 to Stanley Hadyk and Alice Dziatkowski in Carteret, NJ. She was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church in her hometown. Jane married Harold Kraatz in Carteret on July 25, 1953. They lived for a time in Endicott, NY, until Harold was transferred by IBM to Boulder in 1965. Jane was deeply dedicated to her family, becoming a den mother to support her son, Paul, in his youth program in NY. She carefully documented his many achievements over the years and maintained a close bond with him until her death. Jane was a tireless advocate for children with special needs. She worked with other mothers to create educational and job opportunities for children with different abilities like her daughter, Joan. Jane always stressed the importance of a relationship with God. She volunteered her time and many talents at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Boulder over several decades. Jane is survived by her beloved son, Paul, of Boulder, and by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, daughter, Joan, her parents, Alice and Stanley, and her brother, Stanley. The family thanks the many aides at Genesis Senior Living for the love they showed Jane in her final year. Family and friends are invited to pray the Rosary at 10 am and to attend the funeral Mass celebrating Jane's life at 10:30 am on Thursday, August 16 th at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Boulder. I nterment services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Abbey of St. Walburga, 1029 Benedictine Way, Virginia Dale, CO 80536 or to the Bonell Good Samaritan Community, 708 22nd St., Greeley, CO 80631. Darrell Howe Mortuary in Lafayette is overseeing the arrangements.
