Dorothy Berry Varra Obituary
Dorothy Berry Varra was born July 19, 1920 in Sesser, Illinois to Ira Washington Berry and Hope Tillman Berry. In October 1936, she moved to Colorado with her family and lived near the Monarch Mining camp on Varra family farm property. She attended schools in Florida, Illinois and Colorado. June 8 1937 she married Louis Varra in Brighton Colorado. He died in 1991.They owned a farm south of Louisville where they raised their two children. She worked as bookkeeper and clerk for the Varra Grocery, as a cook in the BVSD schools, and scale master for Varra Companies. She was a member of the Louisville Methodist Church where she served in many positions, was a member of Susannah Circle and sang in the choir many years. She was also active in the Senior Center of Louisville. In 2002 the farm was sold and she moved to Lafayette, Colorado. In 2012 she moved back to Louisville where she remained socially active and involved in Louisville Senior Center and Louisville United Methodist Church activities while living at Balfour Lodge. A son, David Varra DVM and a daughter Linda Varra Hines (Tom) were born to the couple. They and four Grandchildren and six Great Grandchildren survive. Also surviving are a sister, Phyllis Waters of Houston; brother-in-law, Jack Varra of Broomfield; and sister-in-law, Pat Berry of Boulder. She was predeceased by her husband; her parents; and four brothers, Richard, Stanley, Howard, and Wesley Berry; and a daughter-in-law, Ditty Varra. Memorial service will be held on 17 August 2018 at 2:00 PM at Balfour Lodge Theater, 1331 East Hecla Dr., Louisville, Colorado
