Richard David Mandel was born to Maurice and Marilyn Mandel in New York City. He grew up in Scarsdale, NY with his brother, Marc, and sister, Maxine. Richard was a man of many interests, passions, and careers. His greatest sources of pride were his travels, golf, handiness, and his family. He was an avid explorer and after living in Europe, he moved to Kenya, to open a computer training school in Nairobi. This is where he met Nanna Bo, his lovely Danish wife of 30 years. He instilled in their three children; Laura, Adam and Sarah, his love of travel, ability to talk to anyone from anywhere, and the understanding that the world is not a scary place. Richard was a professional amateur and reveled in his ability to design, construct, and repair anything. More recently he discovered a love for poker, and he would have wanted to thank the poker boys for supporting his insatiable appetite for sushi. Richard was a dedicated son, husband, father, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend. Richard had a heart attack while playing golf with his brother and died shortly thereafter at Boulder Community Hospital.
