E. Lafe Kincaid Obituary
E Lafe Kincaid was born in Longview, TX to Ellis and Lonnie Kincaid, the youngest of seven children. He attended schools in Texas and later in California. He quit school at 17 and joined the Air Force. He was stationed in Okinawa during the Korean War and then later in Arizona. While home on leave he met Lorena Bosworth whom he married Feb. 18, 1954. In 1957 Lafe started college first at Shasta Junior College, then Chico State and receiving his Teaching Credential from UC Davis. He student taught in Esparto, his 1st Teaching job was in Los Banos and in 1965 he moved to Woodland to teach at Woodland High School as an Agricultural Teacher and FFA Advisor. He retired in 1988. He was a 4H County and Willow Oak Club Beef leader for many years. He served at many levels of leadership in the California Agriculture Teachers Association and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Woodland. He passed on Nov 19 at the Californian in Woodland.Lafe is preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings. He is survived by his wife, Lorena; his two daughters, Lucinda Gibson and Darlene (Michael) Thomsen; three sons, Lafe (Terri), Laurence (Stephanie), and Gary (Christina) Kincaid; 14 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. The family held a private burial on Nov. 29. There will be a Tribute to Lafe on Jan. 27, at 1:30 p.m., at the Yolo County Fairgrounds, Beef Barn. The family invites all who knew Lafe to come and share their stories. Parking will be in the Livestock parking lot on Gibson Rd, Woodland. A Lafe Kincaid Memorial Scholarship is being set up through the Yolo County Fair Heritage Foundation, PO Box 513, Woodland CA 95776. The scholarship will be awarded Annually to a Yolo County Fair FFA Exhibitor for College or Trade School attendance.
