Sam Bledsoe passed away peace-fully at home with family by his side on July 3. Sam was 74 when he died of mesothelioma cancer. As an environmental scientist and mathematician, Sam taught and did research at the University of Washington and at the University of California Davis.
Sam loved and cherished spending time with his family and friends - times were full of cooking, eating, laughing, music and spirited discussions. Sam was a voracious reader and loved to write, keeping journals of his thoughts, deep reflections and plans for numerous projects.
He was a member of the Woodland Chamber Singers and of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Davis. Every summer Sam and his wife Caroline enjoyed inviting family and friends to spend time at a remote lake in northern Ontario Canada. Sam and Caroline built their cabin in 1969 with hand tools. Sam was active in his local Capay Valley community and led hikes in the hills with an organization that he helped found (www.yolohiker.org
