Martha Willis Button Obituary
Martha Susan Willis Button passed away peacefully at home in El Macero, CA with family and caregivers by her side. She was 90 years old and marked this milestone with a grand celebration at her home last August. Martha was born in Berkeley to Gladys Ona Tharp and Howard Hanson Willis, and grew up in Woodland. She attended Dingle Grammar School and Woodland High School where she was editor of the Orange Peal. In 1949 she married a handsome Winters farm boy, Robert Leslie Button (Feb. 7, 1926 Dec. 3, 1975) who was the love of her life. After Bob's passing, Martha continued the farming business through her partnership with Tony Turkovich and his sons Michael and Christopher.Martha adored her family and was beloved by a large circle of friends. She was kind to many and brightened the room with her graciousness and beauty. Martha loved to entertain, and hosted numerous festive parties at the Button Ranch home. Later in life she traveled extensively and visited more than 87 countries. Martha volunteered at the Sutter Davis Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop for many years, and was an avid reader and bridge player. She also soloed and earned her pilot's license.Martha is survived by her four children, Nancy Button (William) Young, Robert (Christine) Button, Jr., Sally Button, and Mary Button (George) Demos; 11 grandchildren, Betsy (Anthony) Iten, Benjamin (Sarena) Button, Brian (Erin) Button, Ryan Young, Erin Young, John Young, Michael (Margaret) Reinbold, Alexandra Button, Kimberly Demos, Carey Demos, and Lauren Demos. She has eight great grandchildren. Martha is survived by her brother, Howard Willis of Woodland, and is preceded in death by her sister, Gloria Willis Falvey. The family is forever grateful to Martha's many loving caregivers.Internment at Winters Cemetery was private. A Celebration of Life will be held at Yolo Fliers Club, Woodland, on Saturday, Feb. 2, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please RSVP to Marydemos@gmail.com.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sutter Davis Hospital, Sutter Hospice, or the California Agriculture Museum, Woodland.
