Our condolences to the family members on John's unfortunate passing. He made many contributions, including to his family, Latvian-Americans, and the students be taught. We appreciated his kind hospitality in both Pennsylvania and Saugerties when we visited. Sincerely, Laine and Norman Freitag

Memories of the past come to light under these sad times. All Latvians who came to the United States after exile from Latvia were "family". Sharing a common bond, a tragedy, families were strongly connected. And so I have childhood memories from the 50's playing on the farm where John and his sister Rita lived with their parents.
To John's family, and my childhood friend Rita...my deepest sympathy.

We are so sorry, Mitzi. John will be missed. I love that he was a bee keeper and planted flowers and vegetables! He was a great gardener. And he was a very good card player! Wish we could have gotten together more often. Take care. Karen Minnis
