Kay, as she was known to her family and friends, was born May 29, 1933 and raised in Kingston, N.Y., the daughter of the late Joseph R. Schiavone and Willabelle Cole Schiavone. She was a long-time resident of Bloomington until moving to Winston-Salem, N.C. in Aug. 2013. Kay was a member of United Reformed Church in Bloomington for much of her life and later, Grace Community Church in Lake Katrine. Kay’s greatest joy was her family. Kay was predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years, Robert Hicks and her siblings, Robert Schiavone, Dorothy Schiavone Townsend and Joseph W. Schiavone. Kay is survived by her sons Joseph D. Schiavone of Spring Hill, Fla. and his wife Cindy; Gary Hicks of Virginia Beach, Va. and his wife Debbie; John Hicks of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and his wife Kate; Trace Hicks of Delmar, N.Y. and his wife Joanne; her daughter Debra Hicks Granger of Lewisville, N.C. and her husband William; 12 adoring grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, Oct. 14th from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. at the George J. Moylan Funeral Home, Rt 32, Rosendale, N.Y.
