Theodore O. “Ted” Anderson, Jr. ATHENS- Theodore O. “Ted” Anderson, Jr., 80, of Sleepy Hollow and formerly of Saugerties and Staten Island, died Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Northern Dutchess Hospital, Rhinebeck, N.Y. Born Feb. 17, 1938 in Ridgewood, Queens; he was the son of the late Theodore and Theresa Anderson. Raised in Staten Island he attended Curtis High School and the NY Institute of Technology. A Veteran of the U.S. Army, he served from 1958- 1960 with most of that time serving in Germany. He joined the NYC Police Dept. in June of 1963 and spent the last years before his retirement in 1983 recruiting and training the Auxiliary Police. In 1985 he relocated to Saugerties and built a home. He worked for 15 years for the Town of Saugerties as a Building Inspector/Zoning Enforcement Officer. He is a member of Watkins Kellett Legion Post #277 and a life member of the Saugerties Elks Lodge #2574 where he served 2 years as Exalted Ruler. He became the North Hudson District Elks Drug Awareness Chairman where he served for two additional years. He spent the winter months on the ski slopes and was a Mountain Host for over 20 years at Windham Mt. Resort. The warmer months were spent biking, running, and entering biathlons until a knee broke down and he was forced to take up golf. He enjoyed playing in local tournaments with his “Golf Cronies”. Survivors include his erstwhile wife, Donna; two sons: Theodore (Catherine) of New Jersey and Mark (Faithe) Anderson of Saugerties; a daughter, Sandra (John) Kosinski of Saugerties; a brother, David of Saugerties; and a sister, Alice Goldstein of California. 17 grandchildren and a niece and nephew survive. His Funeral Service will be held 12 Noon Sunday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Corner of John and Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Friends will be received Saturday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Internment with military honors will be held in the Blue Mt. Cemetery.
