Anthony R. Aiello NEW PALTZ- Anthony R. Aiello, age 91, of New Paltz died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. Mr. Aiello was born Aug. 21, 1919 in New York City the son of the late Angelo J. and the late Josephine Aiello. He married Rose S. Spadafino on June 4, 1955 at St. Martin of Tours, Bronx. He served in the Army Air Corps. from 1942 to 1945 during World War II. As a World War II veteran, he served as a radio operator in the Army Air Corps. overseas. Many years later, he joined the Navy Reserves rising to the level of commander of the Supply Corps. He received a bachelor's degree from St. John's University, Queens. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in New Paltz. At St. Joseph Church he served as its organist, a member of the finance committee and he was a founding member of the Parish Council. He was a member of the Italian Center, in Poughkeepsie, since 1978; he was the past recording secretary for many years. He was the IRS group manager in Newburgh in charge of revenue agents, he retired in 1989. After retirement he became affiliated with the CPA firm of Nugent & Haeussler in Montgomery. He is survived by his wife, Rose S.(Spadafino) Aiello, a daughter and her husband, Marie & Matthew Bianco of Red Hook, a son and his partner, Michael Aiello and Robert Witkowski of New Paltz, a son and his wife, John Aiello & Gayle Angelson of Old Bridge, N.J. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his sisters Marie Aiello and Gladys Brain. Calling hours will Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010 from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 162 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz. The funeral will be Friday Nov. 12, 2010 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 34 South Chestnut Street, New Paltz where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in New Paltz Rural Cemetery, 81 Plains Rd., New Paltz. Funeral arrangements are by Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 162 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz. (845)255-1212.
