Julia (Sheila) Jantzen CLERMONT-Julia (Sheila) Jantzen, 85, of Clermont, N.Y., passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, June 8th, 2017 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck. Julia was born at home on the family farm in Mountnicholas, County Kerry, Ireland, on Oct. 15, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Johanna Gaynor Marshall. Julia immigrated to the United States at 22. Although her intended destination was Chicago, when the ship docked in NYC, she found her home. She married Alfred T. Jantzen on June 25, 1955 at St. Christopher’s Church in Red Hook. He predeceased her on March 2, 2009. While living in the Bronx, Julia worked for Y & R Advertising Agency until her family relocated to Columbia County in 1960. While raising her children, Julia helped Alfred in the family businesses, which included real estate and Cedar Hill Farm. She lived for her husband and children, who meant everything to her. Her unshakeable faith and devotion to God carried her through the good times and the bad. She was a longtime communicant of St. Christopher’s Church in Red Hook. She is survived by her children; Ann (Garret) O’Connor of Clermont, N.Y., Thomas (Nancy) Jantzen of Clermont, N.Y., Linda (John) Gall of Clermont, N.Y., Virginia Perkins of Hamilton, Mass., Sheila (Dudley) Dietrich of Austin, Texas, Alfred J. Jantzen of Clermont, N.Y., and Patricia (Ed) Quinones of Monroe, N.Y.; two sisters, Annie Leen and Bridie Landers both of County Kerry, Ireland; her loving grandchildren, Kayley and Kyle O’Connor, Thomas, Ryan, Matthew, and Liam Jantzen, Sarah, Emily, and Daniel Gall, Julia, Kimberly, and Phillip Perkins, and Emma Quinones; along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Mary Marshall. Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Thursday, June 15th, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 16th, 2017 at St. Christopher’s Church, Red Hook, NY. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. Memorial donations may be made in Julia’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Assoc.
