Kate Centofanti Obituary

We are so sad that we suddenly lost, Kate Centofanti, on September 29, 2016. She was 31 years old. She was born in Niskayuna on December 11, 1984 to Leah Pendergast and the late Jack Centofanti. Kate was a graduate of Schalmont High School and SCCC; where she was a Dean's List Student. She currently was a student at UAlbany, working toward the completion of a degree in Political Science. She was also recently employed by Stella Pasta Bar and Bakery. She enjoyed volunteering at Fostering Hope Foundation. Kate was a spitfire, while also at the same time a generous and caring friend. She was incredibly energetic, hardworking and loyal. Her favorite retreat was her family's Adirondack camp, and she had a deep love for her cat, Lydz. Besides her mother, Kate is survived by her brother, Robert Centofanti (Rebecca Cross); and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. She had many friends who will truly miss her. Funeral services were private. Donations in Kate's memory may be made to the Fostering Futures New York (FFNY), www.welfareresearch.org/ffny.html. Arrangements are entrusted to Richard J. DeLuccia Funeral Services, Rotterdam, NY.

My heart goes out to Kate's mother, her brother Rob and the rest of her family. We met years ago and instantaneously became friends. It was like we were meant to cross each other's paths. We shared many adventures together and I won't forget any of them. I wish I could have been there for her more as I knew she needed support and strength, but I wasn't. RIP Kate. I hope you've found your peace.

I cannot express how sadden I am to hear this news. I have not seen Katie in many years but we were good friends as kids. We spent a lot of time together in the summers in Long Lake. I have a lot of fond memories of her & Jack. I will always remember her contagious giggle & great sense of humor. My heart goes out to Katie's family during this very difficult time.

I have known Katie since we were 11 years old. She was one of my best friends growing up. I will always remember her laugh. It was contagious. We had some great times together. Since she lost her father so young, I think she really became lost. I have always kept in touch with her after all of these years and always wanted the best for her. I was so happy to see her happy. I will honestly miss you so much Katie. May you finally rest.

I feel blessed for the many years me and Katie were best friends. There's things I remember about her most. Her devotion and love for her mother and brother, Rob. How she would always go to camp to get some solitude and how any thing that was going on she could make a joke out of. I can remember helping sign her up for school and the next thing you know she was on to SUNY Albany excelling beyond belief. It doesn't seem real to me that she is gone so soon. I know Kate was very dedicated to all she did. She wanted alot out of life and I believe the impact she made in her short time here touched many people. I will think about her whenever something reminds me of something she did or something we did together. I will think of her family throughout this very difficult time and hope that the passing days, the pain gets better.
