Stanley George Hickok, age 90 passed away on February 1, 2021, due to complications from COVID-19. Born April 14, 1930, in Schenectady, NY to the late Stanley G. and Frances Louise (Benoit) Hickok, Stan grew up in the Niskayuna area, beginning school in a one-room schoolhouse and graduating from the Christian Brothers' Academy in 1947. Stan went on to join the Air Force, including completing a one-year Russian Program at the US Air Force Institute of Technology in Syracuse in May 1952. Honorably discharged after the death of his father, Stan returned home to work in support of his family. In December of 1955, he married Elaine Marie Groff and started a family. He went on to complete a Bachelor of Business Administration at Siena College in 1959. Stan earned his Certificate as Certified Public Accountant from the State University of New York in 1962. Stan worked, began to raise his first five girls while attending night school to obtain a Master of Business Administration at Siena College in January 1970. He had a successful career at the Research Foundation of the State University of New York, retiring as Executive Treasurer in 1995. Stan was a kind and generous man and a devoted husband and father. He cared for his wife Elaine until her death. He was loving and supportive to each of his girls. Retirement did not slow Stan's life. He took classes in Russian and Spanish. Stan loved to travel and made trips to Russia, Greece, and Spain. He traveled to Guatemala and Peru with Habitat for Humanity which began his legacy of giving back. In the years that followed, he made significant contributions to install computers in a school in Peru. Stan's enduring legacy will live on in his family and in the organizations and the city he loved. These are: ReTree Schenectady, Schenectady Historical Society, Habitat for Humanity, the Museum of Innovation and Science, Catholic Charities, and St. John the Evangelist Church. Stan was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Elaine (Groff) Hickok, his brother, Ronald Hickok, and his daughter Susan (John) Pollock. Stan is survived by his daughters, Judith (Anthony) Marconi, Nancy (William) Tudor, Sally Culbert, Theresa (Joseph) Luby and Christina (Brian) Burch, his Son-in-law John Pollock, 15 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and Stan's sister Joan (Jack) Small.
