Michael E. Budka Obituary
Michael E. Budka, 68, passed away peacefully at his home in Glenville with his loving family by his side. Mike was born in Schenectady, the beloved son of the late Benjamin and Helen Krawiecki Budka. As a child Mike played little league and loved baseball. He was a graduate of Linton High School. In 1967 Mike enlisted with the Army and served his country in Vietnam, where he was the Flight Engineer on the CH-47 Chinook Helicopter. He received several merit badges including expert marksman with the M-14 and M-16 rifle. Mike was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Dale, on September 29, 1974. Mike and longtime friend, Dave Hunt formed B&H Automotive Service in 1974, as well. One of Mike's interests was to own classic and collectible cars over the years, but Mike was most known locally for his racecars. Stock-Car Racing was one of his biggest interests, as he built and owned stock cars throughout the years, driven by some of the area's most popular drivers. Mike served as one of the first NYSSCA presidents, for which he received a Lifetime Achievement Award, a Lifetime Membership, and was inducted into the NYSSCA Hall Of Fame. Many years were enjoyed by Mike and his family, as well as friends, at their Galway Lake camp. Mike always enjoyed spending time with all of the family pets over the years and was inseparable from his labs. Survivors include his wife, Dale Budka; his children, Michael Budka Jr.(Cynthia), Joseph Budka and Amanda Boeshko (Brian). Four cherished grandchildren, Michael Budka III and Matthew Budka, Cade Michael and Arya Reed Boeshko. He leaves behind his brothers, Alexander Budka (Suzi) and Leonard Budka (Karen); and a sister, Diane DeMeo (Ron). Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 10 a.m. (Aug. 11) at The Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Rd., Glenville (Rte 50). Calling hours will be at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., Glenville, Monday (Aug 10) from 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside committal with military honors will take place following church services at Park Cemetery in Scotia.
