ELK GROVE VILLAGE - Dorothy Anne Bruce (nee Mickelson), 83, passed away peacefully at her home on February 3, 2018. She was born September 20, 1934 in Stambaugh, Michigan. Beloved and devoted wife of William "Bill" for 63 years. Cherished mother of Robert (Jahna) Bruce, Karen (Ronald) Bruffey, Diane (Fred) Lieb and Debra (Dennis) Becker. Loving grandmother of William (Christine), Kimberlee (fiance Troy), Addyson, Bradford (Paige), Benjamin (Carly), Colleen (Anthony), Braden (fiancee Cassandra), Kyle, Katrina, Kaitlyn and stepgrandmother of Sarah (Kyle) and Andrew (fiancee Klaudia). Great-grandmother of Adia and Matthew and great-stepgrandmother of Abigail and George. Dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her loving parents Charles and Lena Mickelson, brother Karl, sisters Helen, Elsie and Ruth, son-in-law William "Quin" and great-grandson Killian. Bill and Dorothy met while working at Universal Oil. We always laughed that it was his argyle socks that she liked and that is how their love story began. They moved to Elk Grove in 1960 where they raised their family and remained into their golden years. Dorothy and Bill are active charter members of Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Elk Grove. Her gentle spirit, kindness and zest for life will be remembered by all who knew her and valued her friendship. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 11:00 am at Christus Victor Lutheran Church, 1045 S. Arlington Heights Rd., Elk Grove Village. I have many fond memories of Dorothy. Dorothy and mom Sandra Lemke, would go to the pool everyday and after we would go to Dorothy's house for lunch. She was so sweet and always happy, a very fond part of my childhood memories.
