Edward E. Stock Edward E. Stock, 81, died peacefully Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 12, 1932, in Chicago, the son of Edward Charles and Agnes (Svaboda) Stock. He was a graduate of LaGrange High School, LaGrange, and graduated in 1954 with a degree in Education from Illinois State University. He later attended the University of Illinois and Northern Illinois University where he obtained a Master's Degree in Counseling and certificates of advanced studies in Education. He began his teaching career at Burlington Central School District # 301 as a Biology teacher and coach. Then he became a Principal and eventually the Superintendent of Schools for Burlington Central School District #301. Later in his career and prior to retirement he worked in Elgin School District U-46 as a Science teacher at Canton Middle School in Streamwood. Edward was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, 330 Griswold Street, Elgin. He was a member of the original congregation who planned and built the present Zion Lutheran Church. He enjoyed time spent with family, baseball, history, planting trees, and he was an avid reader. Surviving are his devoted wife of 57 years, Carol Ann; his loving children, Vicki (John) Molander of Elgin, Kim (Don) Kein, of Geneva, and Cheryl Stock of Elgin; his cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Kein, Courtney Kein, Angela Kein, Stephanie Engel, and Jennifer Engel; and a loving great grandchild, Brenden Villarreal. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St. (Route 31), Elgin. Burial will be private at Plato Center Cemetery, Plato Center, following the funeral service. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin.
