Raymond Matejcak, DDS of Elgin Raymond Matejcak, DDS, 61, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Feb. 7, 2013, at Sherman Hospital, Elgin, after a courageous battle with illness. He was born on March 25, 1951, in Joliet, IL, the son of Joseph and Ann (nee Dzurko) Matejcak. Raymond graduated from the University of Illinois and the University of Illinois Dental School. He was in private practice in Elgin for over 30 years. Raymond loved his family, he enjoyed fishing and travel. Raymond will be dearly missed. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Elgin. Survivors include his loving wife, Joan (nee Janser), whom he married on March 22, 1975; three beloved sons, John (Colette) Matejcak of Elgin, Peter (Jackie) Matejcak of Chicago, IL and Paul (Ashley Smith) Matejcak of Elgin; two cherished grandchildren, Lucy and Luke Raymond; his mother of St. Charles, IL; a sister, Maryann Bertrand of Batavia, IL; a brother, Lawrence (Sue) Matejcak of Wheaton, IL; nieces and nephews, Katie, Joey and Matt; along with many close family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, Feb. 11, at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin, with Rev. Geoffrey Wirth officiating. Burial will be private at River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee, IL. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St. (Route 31), Elgin, and on Monday. at the church from 10 a.m. until the Mass. Memorials may be made to St. Thomas More Building Fund or Food for the Poor.
