She had four siblings (Russell, Richard, Esther, and Bert). She moved to Anderson, Indiana to attend Anderson College in 1952, where she met the love of her life, the late Jack D. Strunk. They married in 1956 and stayed in Anderson until their move to Wheaton, Illinois in 1978. Together, Betty and Jack had four children of whom they were extraordinarily proud. Karen Strunk, the late Nancy (Strunk) Kirby, Pamela (Strunk-Nicotera) Joy and John Strunk. She had 10 grandchildren - Brooke Holladay, Courtney Holladay, Kara Kirby, Allison Nicotera, Megan Kirby, Emily (Nicotera) Peck, Ryan Kirby, Nate Nicotera, Jessica Strunk and Rachel Strunk and one great-granddaughter, Ana Oddo. She was an active member of both Park Place Church of God in Anderson, Ind., and First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton. In recent years, she served as a Stephen Minister, a deacon, a LOGOS table parent and was involved in other small groups where she actively cared for others. Betty was a beloved preschool teacher for many years at Park Place Church of God in Anderson, and at First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton, where she also served as co-director. She also worked at Marianjoy and at the DuPage County Health Department for several years before her retirement in 2007. She will be greatly missed by family and many dear friends. She was a true and faithful Christian servant and died at peace knowing that her reunion with loved ones passed was about to begin. A memorial service will be at First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton, 715 N. Carlton Street, Wheaton, IL, on Saturday, Aug. 11, at 10:30 am. A reception will follow the memorial service with a private graveside service to follow.
