1937 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
Don Norlander of Lawrenceville, GA, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on June 7, 2018 at the age of 81. Don was born on Feb. 1, 1937 in Seattle, WA, and spent the majority of his childhood in Elgin, Illinois with his parents Verna and Martin Norlander. Don graduated from Elgin High School and went on to graduate from Roosevelt University. Don married his high school sweetheart Sheila Keegan in 1960. Don worked in the insurance industry, retiring as a State Farm agent in Birmingham, AL. Don was a proud father to Jennifer and Kirsten who remember him as a loving supportive father who taught us to always look for the best in others. Don was a former president and Paul Harris Fellow of the Vestavia Hills Alabama Rotary Club. He was an avid runner who later enjoyed step and water aerobics. Don is survived by his loving wife Sheila (Keegan) Norlander, daughter and son-in-law Jennifer (Norlander) and Brendan Walsh and grandchildren Brendan III, Keegan and Hattie Grace Walsh; daughter and son-in-law Kirsten (Norlander) and Jim Sluck and granddaughter Katie Sluck, his sister Vergene Clark of Texas, niece Stephanie Brown of Texas and nephew Jeffrey Norlander of Illinois. The memorial service was held at Tom M. Wages Funeral Home, Snellville, GA 30039.
