LIBERTYVILLE - Ellen Louise Williams (nee Lyden) "Nell Williams," age 97, passed away peacefully at home on January 3, 2021. Cherished wife of the late John P. Williams (2001); and loving mother of the late Suellen McGlynn Piggott (Bill). She is survived by her devoted son, Scott P. Williams (Kristie Webb); and was the Best Nana Ever to Megan McGlynn, Patrick McGlynn, Katie Piggott Turner (Jeremy), Bill Piggott (Erin), Michael Williams (Rachel), Kristy Williams Wente (Mike), Michael Webb and Jessica Webb; great-grandmother of 5; dear mother-in-law to Patricia Williams Lapinski (Mike). She was dear Aunt Nellie to her large extended family in Ohio. In addition to her husband, Ellen was predeceased by her parents, Mary Jane and Michael Lyden; and her adult siblings, John, James, Mary Jane and Katherine. Born and raised in Youngstown, OH she was a 1941 graduate of Ursuline High School, Youngstown. Ellen was a faithful member of St. Joseph Parish Libertyville since moving to Libertyville, IL in 1969. She was a longtime member and past president of P.E.O. International/ Illinois Chapter NG, (Libertyville), which has the mission of promoting educational opportunities for women. She LOVED hosting bridge games with her friends and was an avid golfer and tennis player. Ellen was always sharply dressed and exuded positivity and thoughtfulness. Nana was an accomplished hostess. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 17, 2021, from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM at McMurrough Funeral Home, 101 Park Pl., Libertyville. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 18 at St. Joseph Parish, 121 E. Maple Ave., Libertyville (Advance registration is required via the St. Joseph website: https://stjoseph.ivolunteer.com/funeraljanuary18). COVID protocols (including masks) will be enforced. The family would like to thank the BrightStar Care Gurnee, and Advocate Condell Medical Center & Hospice staff for the care given to Ellen.
