LISLE - Elsie F. Rudman, nee Jurkas, age 101, a resident of Villa St. Benedict in Lisle, IL, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2021. She was born on August 15, 1919 in Chicago, IL. Elsie is survived by her loving children, Karen (Jeff) Hembrough of Naperville and Bob Rudman of Ames, IA; her cherished grandchildren, Paige, Michael and Matthew Hembrough, Bobby, Jeff and Natalie Rudman; her dear sister-in-law, Helen (the late Milan) Varichak; as well as Vicky, her caregiver for the last 5½ years, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Rudman; her grandson, Eric Rudman, in infancy; her parents, Peter and Anna Jurkas; and her siblings and their spouses, Rose (Joe) Kozar, Pete (Zora) Jurkas, Mike (Ceil) Jurkas and Virginia (Bill) McShea. Elsie was proud to begin her career behind the candy counter at the Scott Store. She would work her way up to management and retire as an Assistant Buyer after 20 years. She met the love of her life, Al, and they were married on September 26, 1959. They settled in South Holland and raised their family. Elsie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. For those who would like to leave a lasting tribute to Elsie's life, memorial donations may be made to the Benedictine Sisters of the Sacred Heart. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Naperville and interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Evergreen Park.
