1930 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
WAUCONDA - George W. Egan, Jr., 88, passed away with family by his side on August 7th, 2018. He was born January 20, 1930 in Richmond, VA, to the late George W. and Veronica A. (Daniels) Egan. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 64 years, Sheila C. (Harkin) Egan. George was a graduate of George Washington University in Washington, DC and a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force. He worked for Champion Paper Company for 41 years before retiring in 1996. George attended the Masters golf tournament for 50 years and enjoyed following his beloved Washington Redskins, Pro golf tournaments, and any Chicago sports team. He traveled around the world with Sheila and enjoyed long visits to their condo in Ormond Beach, FL. George especially adored spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. George is survived by his wife, Sheila, along with his five children: Daniel Egan, Patrice Makoski, Donal (Dori) Egan, Sheila (Robert) Chudik, and Jane Kay (Edward Halvey). He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Ashley, Whitney, Tyler, Madison, Cassidy (Adam), Haley, Abigail, Jillian, Riley, Samantha, and Jessica. George was the loving great-granddaddy to Charlotte and Fiona Bolton. George is also survived by two stepgranddaughters Molly(Jason) Kehrer and Bridget (Teddy) Ariniello and their children. He was predeceased by his infant daughter Lori Jean and one sibling, Anne Cahill. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Kisselburg-Wauconda Funeral Home, 235 North Main Street, Wauconda, IL. There will be a prayer service from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of George to Lakewood Group Home, 455 Huntley Road, Lakewood, IL 60014 (815-893-6234).
