JOACHIM JOHANNES "JOE" PETERKES Obituary
ST. CHARLES - Joachim Johannes "Joe" Peterkes, age 59, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL. His loving family was at his side as he ended his courageous battle with cancer. Joe was born January 27, 1955 in Welschen- Ennest, Germany, the son of Alexander and Anna (nee Wurm) Peterkes. He was united in marriage to Amy Ann Llewellyn on June 8, 1991 in Singapore. Raised in Rahrbach, he completed his masters' education at Niederrhein College, Dsseldorf, Germany and began his career. Moving to the US, he had the privilege of being selected as one of the chefs to provide a presidential inaugural meal. With his wife Amy, he moved to Singapore and they began their family life welcoming their two children, David and Anna into their lives. Returning to the US in 2006, Joe continued to thrive and enjoy life. Joe treasured his satisfying career as an executive and flavorist throughout the world. He created many special flavors which can be found in food products, enjoyed both at home and in restaurants. His zest for life, love of exploring and residing in foreign places has left many with a deep sense of loss. He is survived by his beloved wife, Amy of St. Charles; his children, David and Anna Peterkes both of St. Charles; a brother, Heinrich Werner (Claudia) Peterkes of Germany; and Uta Elisabeth Peterkes-Hoberg of Germany; his nieces and nephews, Lea and Sarah Peterkes and Felix and Nikolas Hoberg; and an uncle, Heinz (Rita) Wurm. Joe is preceded in death by his parents. A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third St. (three blocks west of the Fox River, one block south of Route 64), St. Charles. A time of reflection and an opportunity to share stories will take place at 6:00 P.M. A Funeral Mass will take place in the historic Catholic Church of St. Dionysius in Rahrbach, Germany on Saturday, July 19th at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in the family cemetery. A memorial fund has been set up to honor this well-loved man.
