Obituary Condolences

Laverne C. " Bud" Scholer of East Dundee Laverne C. "Bud" Scholer, age 90, passed away on Monday at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. Bud was born in Elgin on June 8, 1923, the son of the late Fred and Gunda (nee Guth) Scholer. Bud was a lifelong resident of the area, and a 1941 graduate of Dundee Community High School. He was a lifelong and active member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in West Dundee. Bud served in the United States Army during WWII. Bud was a Carpenter by trade and a member of the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters Union Local # 363. Bud's first love was his family followed closely by his love for his bonsai trees. Bud is survived by his wife of 67 years: Ruth A. (nee Swanson) They married on January 27, 1946. Their children: Kenneth Scholer, Clifford (Pamela) Scholer, and Lonnette "Lonnie" (the late Robert) Smith. Bud is also survived by his (8) grandchildren: Brenda (Scott) Papierniak, Joni (Chris) Bailey, Greg Scholer, Christopher (Louise) Scholer, Alieta (Tim) Guntly, Paulette (David) Jordan, Ginger (Graham) Culp, and Matthew Scholer. His (14 ) great grandchildren, his sisters: Marilyn Brown and Elaine Meyer. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 A.M. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, West Dundee with Frank Hewitt, Director of Parish Ministries officiating. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East Cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
