1942 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
On Monday, October 8, 2018, Lenora Marie "Lee" Johnson-Ayers, 75, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at her home in the Crane Lakes community of Port Orange, Florida. She was born on October 19, 1942 in Libertyville, Illinois and graduated from Libertyville High School in 1960. Lenora was preceded in death by her father, Donald Griffin and her niece, Brenda Sue Molczan. She is survived by her only child, Lars (Cameron Yung) Johnson of Amsterdam, NL, her second husband, Louie Ayers of Port Orange, Florida, her mother, Lillian Griffin of Mundelein, IL, all 6 of her siblings, Donna (Ken) Vasey, Donald (Janie) Griffin Jr., Patricia (John) Caviness, Pamela (Keith Schultz) Molczan, Bill (Annie) Griffin, and John (Pam) Griffin, and numerous nieces and nephews. Lenora is also survived by her first husband and the father of her son, Gustav LeRoy Johnson. Lenora was a lifetime lecturer for Weight Watchers, the owner of two travel agencies, an avid reader, and a world traveler. She touched people's lives in so many ways. She brought us together, made us smile and made new friends wherever she went including local art fairs, Newcomers, Rotary International, Weight Watchers, crafting, and quilting shows. After selling her Lake Bluff, Illinois travel agency in 1998, Lenora embarked on a new chapter of her life. She and Louie Ayers were married on October 14, 1999. They moved to central Florida in 2001. Once settled in, Lenora took up new hobbies such as Mahjong and quilting. She continued traveling, skiing, playing tennis, golfing, and playing cards with a number of very close friends. She enjoyed many lasting friendships throughout the years. In 2010, she and Lars went on an extended trip to revisit some of their favorite places and memories in the Western United States. Lenora will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Private services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, October 15 at Highland Memorial Cemetery near Gurnee, Illinois. These services are being handled by Marsh Funeral Home at 305 N. Cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL 60031.
