RAY SIGWALD SWANSON Obituary
ST. CHARLES - Ray Sigwald Swanson, 91, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2017. He was born December 9, 1925 to his Swedish immigrant parents, Edith and Carl Swanson in Chicago. Raised and schooled in Chicago along with his five siblings, he then proudly served his country in WWII during the Battle of the Bulge, and then as a paratrooper with the 101st Army Airborne Division. In June, 1953 he married his wife of almost 64 years, Madice (May) Kettelson. They were long time residents of Elgin, IL, where they raised their two daughters before moving to St. Charles. In their later years, Ray and May enjoyed many trips overseas and winter months in Florida. Ray leaves behind his wife, May, daughters, Laura (Gregory) Berg and Lisa (Michael) Dyer, and beloved granddaughters, Linnea and Kirsten Berg. A memorial service is set for Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Batavia Covenant Church, 1314 Main Street, Batavia, IL, beginning at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation prior from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m.
