1936 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
ST. CHARLES - Robert Castle Donnelly, 81, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2018 at Asbury Gardens in Aurora, IL. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Grace Louise Donnelly on September 22, 2017. Born October 9, 1936 in Boston, KY, Bob was the only child of Robert and Ann Donnelly. He was raised in Louisville, KY where he was a football standout at Louisville Male High School. Bob went to the University of Louisville where he played on the offensive line for the Cardinals and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business in 1958. Bob succeeded in a variety of sales positions around the country using his love of life and laughter. Eventually he started his own business, Summit Sales Agency, which later became the Elliot Donnelly Group. Bob was a great sports fan. He loved the Bears and the Chicago Bulls. He was a season ticket holder during the Michael Jordan era and enjoyed those games with friends and family - especially his stepsons, Ted and Tom. Of course, he never stopped rooting for his beloved Louisville Cardinals. Bob returned to the University of Louisville in 1998 for the 40th anniversary of the Sun Bowl Champion team as an honored alumnus. Bob is survived by daughters Kathy Donnelly of Louisville, KY and Laura (Chris) Allen of Hilton Head S.C. and their daughters Olivia and Lily. He is also survived by Grace's sons Ted (Natalie) Foster of Eden Prairie, MN, their children Emma, Sophie, and Will, and Tom (Mary) Foster of Geneva, IL and their children Tommy Jr. and Simon. Memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 5:30 P.M. on Saturday May 19th, 2018 at Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third St., St. Charles, IL 60174. A memorial service will be held at 5:30 P.M. also at the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bob's name may be made to the YMCA of Greater Louisville, where he spent much of his time as a youth, at 545 South 2nd St., Louisville, KY 40202 or www.ymcalouisville.org.
