RUTH MARIE JENSEN Obituary
Ruth Marie Jensen (nee Knott) passed away on May 14, 2018, in Barrington, IL, surrounded by her loved ones after a 13-year battle with breast cancer. She is survived by her husband Peter Jensen, daughters Courtney and Ashlyn Jensen, step-daughters Pam Hoch and Heather Jensen (Michael Steiner), grandchildren Dalton and Josie Hoch and Ethan and Jonathan Steiner, brother James McNeely, and many more loving family and friends. She is preceded in death by her first husband Gary Hardy, son Jared Hardy, daughter Ambria Hardy, and sister Carol McNeely. Ruth dedicated her life to teaching and was passionate about making a positive impact in children's lives. She spent a large portion of her career working in District 214, and finished her career at Maryville Academy. Her commitment to children and the memory of her late son led Ruth to create the Hoofin' 4 Hardy charity, which successfully raised funds to provide free screening for heart conditions to thousands of high school students in District 211. Her legacy is long-lasting. Ruth was a passionate, driven and loving wife, mother, aunt, cousin, friend and educator, who left friends, family, and acquaintances in awe of her ability to do good in the world and feeling blessed to know and love her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the organization, benefiting breast cancer research and programs. Visitation Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 2-8 PM at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Hwy., Palatine and Monday, May 21, from 9:30-10:15 AM at Holy Family Church, 2515 W. Palatine Road, Inverness. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 AM. Interment St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery. 847-359-8020 or www.smithcorcoran.com.
