1930 - 2019 Obituary Condolences
ELGIN - Victor J. Centanni, 88, of Elgin passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 in Chandler, AZ. He was born May 31, 1930 in Elgin the first son of Anthony and Rose Kasiba Centanni. He had been a resident of Elgin for most of his life and was a graduate of St. Edward High School. He was an Elgin police officer before his employment as an Illinois State Trooper (District 2 and 15). After retiring, he was employed by Laird Funeral Home. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force in the Korean War. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin, the Fox Valley Model A Ford Club and American Legion Post 57, Elgin. Surviving are his son, Scott (Justine) Centanni of Chandler, AZ; 5 grandchildren, Stephanie (Ryan) Michaelson, Rebecca (Jose) Cardenas, Anthony Centanni, Christopher (Brittany) Centanni and Andrew Centanni; 3 great grandchildren Jayden, Giovanni and Ariana; 2 sisters, Louise Mann and Catherine Self; a brother, Anthony Centanni; daughter-in-law, Carol Centanni; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Charlene Pond Centanni on Sept. 12, 2012, a brother, Donald G. Centanni, and 2 sons, Anthony C. "Tony" Centanni and an infant son, John. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, January 16 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin. Entombment with honors will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 PM at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Wednesday in the church from 9:45 AM until the time of mass.
