Walter Jacobson Obituary

Walter P. Jacobson of Huntley Funeral services for Walter P. "Jake" Jacobson, 73, of Sun City, Huntley, formerly of the Joliet and Plainfield area, will be held Saturday, at the Libbey Funeral Home, 520 NE Second Ave., Grand Rapids, Minn. Born June 28, 1929, in Pontiac, Mich., the son of Walter and Ruth (nee Lodmill) Jacobson, he passed away Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, in Elgin. A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Mr. Jacobson was an executive with the Amoco Chemical Company in Chicago for 34 years. Through is association with Amoco, he became a plant manager and resided in Morris, Ill., Munster, Ind., and Decatur, Ala., before returning to the Joliet, and then Plainfield, area. Jake and his wife, Esther, were some of the first couples to call Sun City, Huntley their new home. He was a member of the Elks of Joliet, the Moose of Joliet and the Grand Rapids, Minnesota Eagles. He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Joliet, where he served as an elder. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Esther (nee Stefan), whom he married June 21, 1952, in Crosby, Minn.; sons, Paul (Mary) Jacobson of Fountain Hills, Ariz., Dr. Mark (Tracy) Jacobson of Lexington, Ky., and Jay (Lisa) Jacobson of Naperville; grandchildren, Michael and Joey Jacobson, Damian Peets, Eric and Gina Jacobson, and Alexandra, Lauren and Drew Jacobson; sister, Carol (David) Gabriel of Big Fork, Md.; and a brother, Dr. Gerald (Naomi) Jacobson of Overland Park, Kan. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dr. Linda Jacobson in 1992; and his parents. Memorial contributions may be made to the Walter P. Jacobson Memorial Fund, c/o Harris Bank, 1399 E.
