Obituary Condolences

Dean Marquis Huffstutler Dean Marquis Huffstutler of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, formerly of Elgin, IL, left his earthly home on April 2, 2013 to join his Savior in glory. He was born on March 29, 1922 in Hamilton County, IL to Ira and Susan Katherine Huffstutler. He came to know the Lord at an early age. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1941 and married Ernestine O. Spencer in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium, and awarded the Purple Heart. He was employed by several division s of the Illinois Tool Works for fifty years total, first as an employee, then as a consultant. He married Virginia Fletcher Eldredge in 1991 after his first wife died in 1973. He is survived by his wife, Virginia, his children, Dale (Linda) Huffstutler (Wisconsin), Rebecca (Donn) Pummell (Ohio), Colleen (William) McCrary (Texas), son-in-law, Jim (Kathleen) Layne and Dean's stepchildren, Betsy (Frank) Ifuku (Hawaii), Jim (Lynn) Eldredge (BelvIdere), and Brian (Kathy) Eldredge (West Chicago). There are 20 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Dean was a longtime member of the Elgin Bible Church, and also attended Grace Evangelical Church (Elgin). He loved gospel music and led a group from the Bible Church for many years to the Indianapolis Praise Gatherings hosted by Bill and Gloria Gaither. Dean was preceded in death by his first wife Ernestine (1973), infant daughter, Jeanine (1953), daughter Kathleen (James) Layne (2007) his parents, Ira (1973) and Susan (1987) Huffstutler, brothers Burt Eugene (1921), Robert Ira (1949) and William Harold (Arline) (1998), and his sister, Helen Katherine (A. McDonald) Ferreira (2008). The family expresses their deep appreciation for care received at Alden Estates Countryside, Jefferson, Wisconsin, and Rainbow Hospice Care of Jefferson, Wisconsin, and especially, Chris Schmidt, Dean's hospice nurse, whose care of and connection with Dean were exemplary. Visitation will be Sunday, April 7, 4:30 - 8:30 pm at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin, IL. The funeral service will be at Grace Evangelical Church, 1800 Bowes Rd., Elgin, IL on Monday, April 8, 10:30 am with visitation from 10:00 - 10:30am. Burial will be at Bluff City Cemetery, 945 Bluff City Blvd., Elgin, with a luncheon to follow at the church. For information, 847-741-8800 or www.lairdfamilyfuneralservices.com.
